Roman Government

Historyonthenet

Rome was one of the longest lasting empires and very stable government. The people who made this was History. There are more than one authors in this article. The source is reliable because History is a well known history website and tv channel. They have many articles and video pertaining to my topic.

Just to go back to the start of Rome, it was started by two twins Romulus and Remus. The two boys were the kids of Mars the god of war. Mars put them in a basket that was supposed to drown but a female wolf grabbed them.  When they were grown they found a place to build a city, but the brothers disagreed on this spot. Romulus killed Remus over the spot Romulus named the city after him “Rome” and made himself king. After seven kings, people started to revolt because the last king a cruel person. He was the cause of an uprising that lead to the end of a monarchy and started the republic. The republic had a consul which the members consisted of people the town voted for. They had a problem with splitting up the power so the common people were mad at the time but got more power throughout the years. In 450 B.C Rome put a bronze tablet in  the middle of the town with laws and rules the people should follow. The only people that were allowed for the senate were wealthy common people and other politicians. In the late Rome the empire started to crumble, because the empire was growing so rapidly. Another reason why the late republic started to fail was because the gap between the wealthy and the poor grew. The wealthy drove the poor’s farm out and they poor were then not able to use some of the town’s resources. What did the Romans do in their daily lives?
