Values + Happiness

When you ask someone what makes them happy most people have very similar general things that make people happy, such as money, food, love, but when you get more specific peoples opinions on what makes them happy can differ. The reason why something might make one person happy, but not another person happy is all based on values, how one person values something more than another. This source is reliable because it has links to other sources, and it has a link to contact the producers.
Values have a lot to do with happiness, for example if you are superstitious and you have to wear a certain hat to a game, then that hat is much more valuable to you than any other person. Happiness and values go hand in hand because if you value something than it is important to you and it makes you feel happy, or it is something that is related to what makes you happy. According to Theimportanceofvalues.com, “Values affect their formation and development as individuals, and make it easier to reach goals that would be impossible to achieve individually.” When a person has values then that is what kind of sets the rules for their lives and gives them structures to their lives. When something has more value to you than you protect it more, or if something happened to it than you would be more alert. For example, most people value their phone more than a shirt you bought last weekend because it is more expensive, and you can contact your friends or family, and that makes you happy. Now, some people might value a new shirt over a phone because maybe they are younger and they really wanted that shirt, and their phone is broken. That is where values come into play because not everyone values the same thing.
In the working world, values play a big role because when you are in a company you all have to have similar values so you can all achieve the same goal. This website states, “If values don’t have the same meaning for all employees, their daily work will be more difficult and cumbersome. The work environment becomes tense, people feel that they are not all moving in the same direction, and clients pay the consequences.” This means that a company has to have some type of structure formed from values because if they all have the same goal then they will all work to achieve that particular goal, because achieving their goal will make them all happy. That is where most values have a relation with happiness because you can achieve your goals or get something that will make you happy if you have values. For example, if you are saving for a car you will value you how you spend money because you want to save up for that car instead of going out to dinner as often or spending your earnings on things that are not as important as that car. The money you are making is more valuable to you now because you have a goal with what you are going to do with it once you save enough. I think that values work hand in hand with happiness because happiness is formed by values and getting what you want.
