Golf was started many, many years ago and was created many years before it was invented. It had different names before it was called golf. It played by the Chinese in 1297 but they didn’t call it golf. The first time it was called golf was in 1457 when King James III passed an act on it. After that it took over the world. It started to become popular in the U.S. but over time golf courses started to fail in the U.S. because they were making too many courses. But golf is still a very popular sport.
