Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest bands of all time. One would be surprised at how many bands were influenced by them. Bands such as Alice Cooper, Queen, Aerosmith, Guns n’ Roses, Metallica, and Van Halen were all influenced by Zeppelin. On stage Zeppelin had a macho presence that people loved. Robert Plant (singer) had a voice of an angel that can be remembered through songs such as Dazed and Confused and The Ocean. His voice influenced singers such as Jeff Buckley, Sammy Hagar, and Freddy Mercury.
Not only did Led Zeppelin influence rockstars, they changed the future of rock. Some people think that Zeppelin “as being the first band to invent the genre of Heavy Metal.” (quora.com), even though “about one third of its music was acoustic.” This shows that metal bands today stemmed from Zeppelin. Overall, Jimmy Page’s strong power chords on his Fender Telecaster and John Bonham’s incredible speed on his drums created a sound that no band had ever made.
Many say the Beatles are the fathers of rock and roll. The Beatles have sold over a billion albums. According to Rolling Stone the Beatles have created 4 of the 10 best albums of all time, as well as 23 of the 500 best songs of all time. You might ask yourself, how did they do it? The Beatles had 3 song writers in their band. Most bands have one. The Beatles producer, George Martin was often referred to as the fifth Beatle.
Jimi Hendrix was one of the most unique guitarists of all time. Jimi was a pioneer when it came to using his guitar amplifier feedback to make music. Guitar amplifier feedback is an undesired sound the amplifier makes when the guitar and amp are too close together. Jimi often times played a Fender Stratocaster but switched the strings around to enable him to play lefty. This gave him a unique sound because of the slant of pickups on electric guitars. His lowest string had a brighter sound while his highest string had a darker sound. Jimi would also turn all the knobs on his amplifier to the maximum level, which became known as the “Hendrix Setting”.
