Research Question: How were the countries that were involved in World War I impacted by the outcome of World War I?
Thesis: There were many outcomes of World War I that had various effects on the countries that were involved in it, of which are social, economic, political, and even daily lives of people on and off the battlefield.
Synthesis Paragraph: Possibly the most major social change that occurred over World War I is the world’s view of gender roles. In my Gender Rights before and after World War I article it’s mentioned that women stepped up to fill in the positions that men couldn’t, as they were on the battlefield fighting. This changed the views of the world, as before, women were seen as inferior in terms of work ability to men. There were also many economic effects of World War I, such as the huge amounts of money that were poured into the war from both sides. In my Economical Effects of World War I on involved countries article, it’s mentioned that the allies may have not won the war if it wasn’t for the US’s huge contributions, which estimated around 38 billion dollars. Also Germany was hit very hard economically, as they owed money for the damages that resulted from the war, which resulted in Germany slumping into a huge depression. Many different political effects were witnessed by the world also, such as the large shift in political borders in Europe. In my Politics after World War I article, it’s mentioned that many of the european political borders changed as a result of who won and who lost WWI, plus Woodrow Wilson formed the idea of the League of Nations, which would later evolve into what we know today as the United Nations. Also, the lives of soldiers was something to be observed when seeing how the outcome of the war turned out. In my Soldier’s Lives and Tasks on the Battlefield article, I mention the routines of the soldiers, which can be directly correlated into the overall mood of the soldiers, impacting the entire outcome of the war. Some of the routines that the soldiers go through are showering rarely, playing games as often as they can, and more.
