Aerosmith is a Boston-based hard rock band. It all started when Steven Tyler (singer) met Joe Perry (guitarist) while working at an ice cream parlor. At that time Tyler was a drummer and so they made a trio with a bassist Tom Hamilton. They soon found a drummer by the name of Joey Kramer. The band’s first hit was “dream on”, a piano ballad that was “orchestrated with strings and distorted guitars” (mtv). After playing in clubs around New York for 2 years Aerosmith landed a contract with Columbia records. Aerosmith released their best album in 1975 called Toy’s in the Attic. Many say their sound developed into a hard rocking blues-based riffs. Aerosmith then released the album rocks and from that point on they slowly lost popularity due to drugs and alcohol. Until 1989 when they released “pump”, it showed that they still had some Aerosmith left in them.
